Become a Friend of Home-Start Guildford
Are you interested in helping Home-Start Guildford with fundraising, marketing and networking? If so, this is the group for you!
Ways you could be involved:
- Attending family and/or fundraising events to help with setting up, serving refreshments, registering attendance or running a stall
- Research opportunities and appropriate events where HSG can promote their services / recruit volunteers
- Organise a HSG stall and the volunteers to support this
- Plan, organise and run fundraising events eg coffee mornings, craft events
- Support others who are fundraising for us
- Build networks with local businesses to raise our profile and encourage them to support our work
What does being a Friend of Home-Start Guildford involve?
This is a flexible role where you can commit as much or as little time as you can spare.
Either working alone or in collaboration with other volunteers, you will be able to create and manage your own projects within the areas listed above, with the support and in liaison with the Manager and Administrator. HSG will provide the resources and you will use your imitative to help find ways to promote our charity, the services we offer and our volunteering opportunities; as well as organise or assist with fundraising activities and events.
This role can be done mainly from home or you are welcome to join us in the office.
You will have:
- A chance to learn new skills
- A chance to gain experience in event management
- The opportunity to make new friends and build social networks
- The opportunity to contribute to vital work supporting families with young children
As a Friend of HSG you have the opportunity to attend our free volunteer preparation course, but this is not mandatory. All volunteers are required to undergo a DBS check and provide two references as part of their application process.
Training and support
Volunteers are the heart of Home-Start Guildford. In joining our dedicated and friendly team, you will:
- have the option to take part in our free preparation training course
- meet regularly with, and be supported by, one of our coordinators
- have access to training activities including specialist speakers
- be invited to volunteer social events (including a free Christmas Lunch event)
- receive regular updates and newsletters
- be able to claim travel expenses when undertaking activities for HSG
