Reports of our progress over the year were given by Hugh Shanks, Chair, Liz Westwood, Scheme Manager, Corrina Meyer our Pirbright Family Group Co-ordinator and our Treasurer Vicki Hutchings.
HS staff and some of our families had a brilliant day out in the sun at Bocketts Farm. 32 families with 70 children and their volunteers had a great time feeding the goats, watching the pig racing, taking a tractor ride and playing in the park, with a lovely picnic lunch together.
In the most beautiful garden of one of our Trustees on a lovely sunny
morning Home-Start Guildford celebrated 20 years of supporting local families.
In its early days we supported 6 families in the first year to 20 years later when we have supported 189 families. It was a thank you to our volunteers, trustees, and
patrons who give their time so freely to make the work
of Home-Start possible. Their commitment and
dedication is very much appreciated.
Our Home-Start families enjoyed a fabulous fun day
out at the Model Steam Railway in Stoke Park. HS trustees, volunteers and supporters joined the families, including our Patrons Ann Milton MP and Cllr Pauline Searle. Families enjoyed riding on the steam train, a bouncy castle, puppet show and refreshments. One of our volunteers wrote afterwards – “The children loved the freedom to go from one
activity to another as often as they liked and
thoroughly enjoyed them all. Their mum
told me it was the most relaxing outing
they had ever had as a whole family.”
